Over the last two years there has been a significant change in the legislative requirements for Local Governments with the introduction of the new Local Government Act 2009, Animal Management Act 2008, subsequent operational regulations and so on.
As part of Richmond Council's commitment to the community and good governance an assessment was conducted of Council's current adopted Local Laws which showed that the laws were no longer compliant with the new legislation and in some cases, due to the age of the local law, were no longer relevant or in the interest of the Community.
As a result Council has proposed a new suite of Local Laws and Subordinate Local Laws which are now available to the public for viewing and comment as part of the consultation process by clicking on the links below.
 Local Laws-
The following Local Laws are proposed to be adopted directly from the Model Local Laws developed by the Queensland Government. The models ensure compliance for Council with legislation whilst still allowing Council the autonomy to tailor the subsequent Subordinate Local Laws to suit the best interests of the Richmond Community and its Council.
Subordinate Local Laws-
The following Subordinate Local Laws have been developed by Council over the past three months utilising the templates provided by the Queensland Government .
In addition a further Local Law (Repealing) will be drafted for adoption to repeal all current Local Laws for Richmond Shire Council. A copy of these can be found using the following link and selecting Richmond Shire from the first drop down box-
