The state election has been set for March 24, 2012. If you are just turned 18 and need to enroll or you have moved and need to update your enrolment details go to www.aec.gov.au. On line you will find the form to enroll to vote or update your details. Alternatively Council has the forms available at the Shire Office. Australia Post usually have the forms available as well. 2012 Local Government Quadrennial Elections - election timetable To notify local governments of the revised dates relating to the 2012 Local Government Quadrennial Elections following the announcement by the Premier that the Queensland State Government Elections will be held on 24 March 2012. Dates Following the Premier’s recent announcement that the State Government Elections will be held on 24 March 2012 and the subsequent delay of the local government elections, the Electoral Commission of Queensland has released a revised election timetable of all significant dates relating to the local government elections. The critical election dates are: Close of rolls 5.00pm Tuesday 31 January 2012 Nominations Opens Saturday 10 March 2012 Closes noon Tuesday 27 March 2012 Election day Saturday 28 April 2012 Postal Ballots will apply to Richmond Of particular importance to local governments is that caretaker period will commence on 10 March 2012 and ends at the conclusion of the election.
