Stan - The Austroaurus Stan - The Austroaurus

Meet Stan the Austrosaurus, a very hard working Sauropod, a 'gentle giant' amongst Aussie Dinosaurs.

He's the original 'fossil hunter'. Stan spends most of his time up in the hills near the volcanoes, looking for fossils, skeletons, and bones from dinosaurs that lived many years before he hatched from his egg, in his Mother's nest.

Sometimes he helps Kylee the Turtle look for the moon rocks that she uses for bowling balls.

He's very well equipped with fossil finding gear; carry bag, back pack, rock hammer and a really strong magnifying glass. He wears a big, broad brimmed hat to protect him from the fierce sun and from any of the rude pterosaurs that glide around in the warm air drafts, high up above him.

With his long neck, Stan finds it easy to peer into cracks, crannies, down ravines and around cliff ledges, looking for his fossils.

When he returns to Lake Creta he shows the other reptiles what he's found but no one's really interested in his discoveries. They've got lots of their own life still to live, before they too one day, will also become fossils!

At least his very best friend, Mia the Minmi will always listen as she cooks in her cretaceous kitchen. But only as long as he helps stir her yummy cake mixtures or holds hot saucepans over the lava ovens, whilst he prattles on about bones and rocks. Stan can indeed be…a very useful Austrosaurus!
