Meet Speedy the Pliosaur, the dare-devil marine reptile who lives in his machine workshop, along the banks of the Richmond creek, one of the many streams that run from Lake Creta out into the Eromanga Sea.
He's a very clever prehistoric lizard and loves inventing engines, building mechanical machines or just simply fixing broken things.
He's built himself several speed boats, but his favourite is the 'mean machine', an eight cylinder jet ski with twin exhausts, on which he powers over the lake at top speed. Prehistoric fish, squid, and ammonites quickly dart out of the way as he zooms past.
Unfortunately the exhausts always make such a racket, abruptly waking up any lizards sleeping nearby in the hot sun. Also the choppy waves from the jet ski's wake muddy the waters in the shallow end of the lake where the local long-neck, sauropod dinosaurs feed on the juicy swamp weed. Speedy can be a bit of a nuisance at times!
Each year Speedy and his best mate Krono the Kronosaurus organise the 'Jet boat race around Lake Creta', it's a very noisy affair and anyone's welcome to enter. It's about this time that the other marine lizards and dinosaurs usually decide to go on their annual holidays … letting those rev-head reptiles make as much noise, smoke and smell as they like!
Speedy wears his crash helmet and goggles everywhere (even when he's not riding), he may be the fastest lizard around, but he always plays it as safe as possible.
