A large marine reptile fossil has been found... Kronosaurus Korner staff will conduct a 5 day dig to extract what is hoped to be a complete skeleton. Take yourself back 100 million years ago to the Prehistoric world of Australia’s Ancient Inland Sea. Find yourself taking part in making an amazing discovery.

Once the specimen is safely transported to Kronosaurus Korner Museum, the specimen will be prepared and studied in preparation for display. If you have an interest in Palaeontology then this is the excavation for you.

Dates:  Monday 18th June 2012 – Friday 22nd June 2012

Cost: $750.00 per person includes morning tea & lunch. 

What You Need To Bring: Sunscreen, water bottle, work clothes, covered in footwear & a wide brimmed hat.

4 Day Fish Frenzy 4 Day Fish Frenzy

 A significant fish bed has been found... Kronosaurus Korner staff will conduct a 4 day dig to extract complete fish skeletons. Take yourself back 100 million years to the Prehistoric world of Australia’s Ancient Inland Sea; find yourself making amazing discoveries.

1 Day Fossil Hunting Adventures 1 Day Fossil Hunting Adventures

Come along with the Kronosaurus Korner Museum Curator to discover some of the secret fossil hunting sites throughout the Richmond area. Sites include different geological formations which reveal different extinct fauna and marine conditions.


Learn how to identify minute and large pieces of bone from marine environments that are 100 million years old. Other sites reveal marine fauna found nowhere else in the world.
 

After collecting your fossils you will come back to the laboratory to be taught how to prepare your specimens.

Free Fossicking Sites Free Fossicking Sites

 After exploring our Prehistoric World at Kronosaurus Korner, we have the ideal place for you to visit. The fossicking sites are approximately 12 km to the north of Richmond and are easily accessible to all vehicles. 

You don't require any digging tools- in fact most people don't have any equipment and still manage to make  wonderful finds. Some of the fossils that are found in the area include belemnites, fish jaws and scales, inoceramus shells and shark teeth. Fossickers are reminded that they are more than welcome to bring their discoveries back to Kronosaurus Korner for identification.
