New Fossil Finds

Ron Ellis from Victoria, went fossicking on the 12 November at Fossicking site 1, and found a fish jaw bone, Petrifed wood and Inoceramus Shell. Great find!!

Aiden Middleton from Anna Bay, went fossicking with his Grandparents on 11th November and found a small Fish skeleton. Fantastic find Aiden!!

Tom Carmichael went fossicking on the 28th September at fossicking site 1 and found a fantastic Elasmosaur vertebra. Tom then bought his unbelievable find back to Kronosaurus Korner and Rob Ievers the founder of the museum, identified the fossil then help Tom to prepare it.

William Rienhold from Mossman went fossicking at Fossicking Site 1 with his family and they found a number of Ichthyosaur teeth, vertebrae, phalanges, a large piece of Ichthyosaur jaw bone as well as several other pieces of bone. They bought their fantastic finds into the museum and Rob Ievers, the founder of the Kronosaurus Korner Museum, helped William to prepare his fossil. William then got talking to Shane Gibbs, another one of our visitors that was staying at the Lake View Caravan Park and told him to have a go at fossicking where they had been. Shane then proceeded to find a number of phalanges, shark teeth, bone and belemnites.

Michelle Johnson and her family went fossicking with Rob Ievers and found some amazing fossils including carnivorous fish teeth, phalanges, vertebrae and ribs. Fantastic find!!

Kathleen & Michael Corbin went fossicking on Tuesday 22nd of September and found a Femur bone off a large Marine Reptile - such as a Kronosaurus or Ichthyosaur - that swam in the Cretaceous Inland Sea over 100 million years ago.

         

Jacob and Uarsten Rossa from Germany found this brilliant Jawbone specimen while fossicking at the Richmond Fossil Hunting sites on the 17th August 2009. A truly amazing find!!!

 

 

Erin Koller with an amazing find! This is the first time that a Jellyfish fossil has been found in Richmond! Erin went out fossicking with Paul Stumkat, the Curator at Kronosaurus Korner, and the NSW Fossil Club on the 1st August 2009. Well done Erin!

Geoff & Jenny Hurle went fossicking at site 1 on the 22nd May 2009 and found a number of fish vertebrae. Great work!

Madeleine, Jacob & Lachlan Brundell from Townsville went fossicking on the 29th June 2009 at Fossicking Site 1 and found Inoceramus Shell, a Fish Fin, a Shark tooth & two Belemnites. Keep up the great work. 

Matthew, Carmen & Lana Hauig from Cairns went fossil hunting on the 28th June 2009 at Fossicking Site 1 and found Fish Bone, Inoceramus Shell and a Belemnite. Great work kids.

James Williams from Manly West went fossil hunting on the 28th June 2009 at Fossicking Site 2 and found a number of small fish vertebrate. Brilliant  job James.  

Graeme & Carmel Avis from Broad Beach Water QLD went fossicking and found a partially complete specimen of a fish (species unknown) with nice pectoral & anal fins and gut content present, on the 27th June 2009 at Fossicking Site1. Graeme & Carmel kindly donate their specimen to Kronosaurus Korner for further study and it will be on display in the near future.

Emma Grice from Hope Island went fossicking on the 27th June 2009 at Fossicking Site 1 and found a large piece of fish bone and some belemnites. Great work Emma.

Howard and Christine Millar found what is thought to be a fish skull out at Fossicking Site 2 on the 23/06/09

Koen Klop from Netherlands, went fossicking on the 20th June 2009 at Fossicking site 1, and found some great finds, a Belemnite, Turtle Humorous & Inoceramus Shell. Fantastic Finds!

Akala & Teal Stumkat from Richmond went fossicking on the 20th June 2009 at Fossicking site 1, with the father Paul Stumkat, Kronosaurus Korner’s Curator and found a Shark Tooth & Fish Jaw. Great work Girls!!



Alison Collins from Townsville, Australia. Went fossicking with her family to Site 1 on the 5th of June 2009. Alison found a well preserved sharks tooth with the estimated age of 95 million years. Congratulations on a brilliant find.



Vera Alcock from Swan Hill Victoria, Australia. Found a Turtle Flipper encased in shell and rock, Vera went fossicking at Site 1 on the 5th of June 2009. Well done!!!

Rowan Barrett from Eltham South Australia, went fossicking at site 1 on the 17th May 2009 and discovered an amazing Ammonite. Great Find!!
